Franz Weninger's grandmother, Rozsa Petsovits, was born in 1921 in Horitschon, Hungary, which became part of Austria shortly thereafter. Franz makes this non-vintage wine in her honor with Syrah, Sankt Laurent, and Pinot Noir grown in Ritzing and Hortischon in Austria, and Balf and Sopron in Hungary, less than 10 miles away.
Flavor Profile: Lighter-bodied, dry. A cross between light red and rosé, this summery natural wine has notes of flint, dried cherry, wild brambleberries, rhubarb, herb, and limestone. Serve chilled with white meats, fish, and grilled bratwurst.
